Imran's 'blue' battle

/photo.cms?msid=3226521 The debutante, who's riding high on the success of 'JTYJN', seems to have literally earned it. The actor almost waged a battle with director Abbas when it came to the film's style quotient that is now being applauded for its proximity to real-life

'Too many cooks spoil the broth' may be an old saying but if there's one person for whom its relevance is hardly anything, it's for Imran Khan. A young debutante who was just back to Mumbai from the US, Imran was shocked when he found director Abbas Tyrewala's anti-blue attitude. According to an industry insider, Abbas was not in favour of using 'blue' colour in his frames, so much so that, he did not even want his actors to don blue apparels in 'Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na'.

When Imran, his co-actors and designer Ashley Rebello learnt of this, they were aghast. Recalling the episode, Ashley says, "During my first meeting with Abbas to discuss the look of the cast, I was shocked when I learnt that he wanted to stay away from 'blue'. It almost translated into saying that we were trying to make a youth-oriented film without the ultimate youth clothing – blue denims!"

Adds the designer, "And even as I was busy convincing Abbas about the colour's inevitable use, it was Imran who was too tensed. He just wasn't in a mood to accept his character in anything but rugged jeans. Thankfully, Abbas changed his decision and the results have of course been fab."

Meanwhile the chic designer is all praises for the newcomer for his sense of fashion. According to Ashley, Imran had suggested bright ties for his character two years back when he had just come down from the US where the same were a big rage. While Ashley was skeptical but agreed Imran's insistence, the designer is now glad about his move with the trend hitting Indian market like never before.
