Varudu – romance & adventure?

Varudu, the proposed film of Mahesh Babu in the direction of Trivikram Srinivas, is going to be launched anytime after August 9th (the star's Birthday). After Athidi, the actor was not seen in action, making it for sure that he would not deliver any film this year. Mahesh is said to have perceived the pulse of the audiences, particularly his fans, that whatever film that he would do there is imminent possibility of its comparison with his industry hit – Pokiri. Keeping this apparent risk in mind, the script was treated with the elements of fabulous adventure and captivating romance. Two schedules are being sketched out at the scenic locations in Kerala and Rajasthan, reports said. Singamamala Ramesh produces the flick, set for summer release 2009. Latest buzz says Mahesh has worked out 6-packs for the film. However, the actor long back said he was not interested in muscle mania.

No politics! Says Mahesh Babu

Well it's election time and the speculation over Megastar Chiranjeevi's political entry seems to have split the film industry wide open.

With the Nandamuri family throwing their weight behind Chandrababu Naidu, the atmosphere in Tollywood is politically charged.

With a Mahesh Babu Fan association announcing grand weeklong birthday celebrations starting August 9, a fresh set of suppositions over Mahesh Babu's political affiliations were triggered.

But the actor has chosen to distance himself from the spotlight and reiterated that he is not going to support any political party in the coming elections and that he is firmly focused on acting.

He went to the extent of cautioning his supporters to use their individual discretion to exercise their right to vote and not let the activities of his fan associations influence them in the least. Must say that is very responsible of the reticent star. Bravo Mahesh!

Deepika Padukone for Mahesh

Mahesh Babu's film Varudu (title in vogue) will have its regular shooting from July 16th. Deepika Padukone (of OSM fame) is mostly likely to be the heroine, sources said. Trivikram Srinvias directs the film with Singanamala Ramesh as producer on Kanakaratna Movies.

Dasavataram thrilled me: Mahesh Babu

Kamal Hassan's latest film Dasavataram thrilled hero Mahesh Babu to a great deal. After watching the film, the young star poured out his feelings: "It is extraordinary. Kamal is one and the only actor in India to perfectly chisel out ten different roles in the film. The makeup and body language attached to each of the ten characters is superb. It is a big thrill to see five characters simultaneously in some scenes. Each of them is done wonderfully. Hats-off to Kamal. I congratulate KS Ravikumar and Ravichandran for making Dasavataram with high standards." Mahesh Babu's pleasure at Dasavataram assumed much significance.

Trivikram working on a different story for Mahesh Babu

Trivikram Srinivas-Mahesh Babu combination had worked wonders earlier in the form of Athadu, and later in their brief stint with Jalsa too. (It should be remembered that Mahesh had share in Jalsa by lending voice over to the movie.) The star and the director share good rapport, and they planned to work for another movie. Hare Rama Hare Krishna was first planned with M S Raju as producer but the project was called off. Then they finally stated to work on good romantic subject with a tentative title Varudu. And then, they started search for the right "vadhuvu" (bridge) for Varudu (groom). While Trivikram said that he plans to complete the film by the end of the year, Mahesh clearly stated that the film would not release this year. Now, more news comes in about the film!

Based on Mahesh's current image as a hero, the movie's subject has changed. Thus, the title Varudu seems to have been undone too! While the new title is not yet known, it's learnt that Mahesh is going to be shown as even more handsome personality in the movie.

With all these changes, and given that Trivikram takes considerable time to hone his scripts, the movie would not start its shoot until the end of August or later. The perfection that both Trivikram and Mahesh try to bring to the table, one can imagine that there'd be no movie of Mahesh until Summer of 2009, even if one should think optimistically!

The fans' long wait thus comes to become a much longer wait! Let's wait and watch for more twists or plain simple news of the film.

Bollywood cinematographer for Mahesh Babu's Varudu

It seems Bollywood technicians are in much demand in Telugu again. After Bollywood music composers Vishal-Shekar (for Venkatesh’s Chintakayala Ravi) and Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy (for Siddardh’s Konchem Ishtam Konchem Kashtam) are making grand entry into Tollywood, some filmmakers turned to Bollywood cinematographers to rope in.

For Mahesh Babu’s Varudu, being directed by Trivikram Srinivas, Bollywood cinematographer Sunil Patel is handling the camera work. He shot to fame with his cool and chic work for Salaam Namaste. The movie will begin its regular shoot in July.

Already, S J Surya has roped in renowned cinematographer Binod Pradhan for his film, Puli, with Pawan Kalyan. So Bollywood technicians are most wanted in Telugu.

Prince kosam Peter vesina master plan

Peter Heins made a story, then narrated to Mahesh Babu. Mahesh liked it but there was a small..oops big hitch. The problem was that if Mahesh were to do this film, he would have had to undergo martial arts training for six months in Vietnam and the whole film would be shot in Vietnam and surrounding forests. Inko problem undhi aagandi. The budget would be thirty crores and the actor told him to cut it down to twenty as the producer wouldn’t gain. Also the working period of the movie would be for 200 days in which the action sequences would be for 80 days.

Generally for a movie a team works for twenty days in a month, so for 200 days they would have to shoot for 10 months and the post-production would come upto one year and the training part would take not less than 8 to 9 months..meaning a total of two years would go into that movie. This incident happened during Pokiri release and if Mahesh Babu would have done this film, aayana fans mind block ayyedhi and we wouldn’t get to watch a Mahesh Babu film for two years.

Mahesh Babu on a holyday after Athithi

Mahesh Babu is planning to spend his time with his family "(Namratha and son Gowtham) at least for 2 months. He is not going to put himself on shooting floors for the coming 2 months. It's a sort of summer vacations for him.

The severe heat is squeezing out everyone and no body is willing to come out of AC Rooms. So Mahesh also must be taking rest in that regard.

His next film will be 'Mirchi' of KL Narayana. Then he will act in MS Raju's 'Hare Rama Hare Krishna' without any gap.

Will there be a sequel to 'Pokiri'?

A trend of sequels is hitting the film industry in Bollywood. 'Don, Dhoom, Krishh and Lage Raho Munnabhai' — all these came as sequels are were proved big hits. In Telugu also, 'Shankar Dada Zindabad' is coming out as a sequel to 'Shankar Dada MBBS'.

Now, it is reliably learnt that noted director cum producer EVV Satyanarayana is planning to do some sequels. 'Pokiri' which rewrote the 75-year-old Telugu film history in collections had created a history by screening for 365 days in a centre (175 days in one theatre and another 189 days in another theatre based on shift system).

Speaking on the occasion, Puri Jagannath says, 'We are planning another film with Maheshbabu as hero in 2008 on Vaishno Academy banner. However, we are yet to rethink whether we should do a separate subject or bring out a sequel to 'Pokiri'. Screening of a film for 365 days in a centre after a long gap of 27 years is quite a memorable incident. We are very happy at the tremendous success of this movie.'

However, the dilemma is still persists whether Puri Jagannath had an idea to do a sequel to 'Pokiri' or not.
