She was a Miss India finalist and is a known face in the modeling and ad world. And now she is all set to make her debut in Ram Gopal Verma’s Contract . We are talking about the vivacious Sakshi Gulati.
It is a normal perception that one has to struggle a lot to get a break in the film industry. But Sakshi is one lucky girl. “A lot of people say that I have been very lucky because I got this film after just one screen test even though the casting for the film was almost over. I just happened to meet the casting director and he put me through to Ram Gopal Verma. All this happened within a day. He took a screen test the next day and that was about it. After that they informed me that I was on the film and asked me come to Mumbai and start shooting”, said Sakshi.
Surprisingly, acting was not the first choice for Sakshi. She reveals, “I never wanted to be an actor, I was so much into academics. Even in school and college, I was totally into studies. I graduated in Economics so I do have some brains contrary to what people think that women in the film industry are empty headed. I was preparing for my MBA. I actually saw myself reaching the highs in the corporate world. Acting was very far from what I thought I would be three years down the line. This all happened when I took part in a contest and I was sponsored by Elite Model Management. That is how my modeling career started. I suddenly realized that I was enjoying what I was doing. I liked it and I was decently good at it. I took training in dancing and acting after that and here I am. This teaches you that life is so unexpected. I am glad that I am here because I realized that this is what I want to do and I love doing it.”
Speaking about the film Contract Sakshi said, “The film is about the underworld and how underworld today works in sync with terrorism. It is a sort of a sequel to Satya and Company . It is a fast based thriller. It will keep you on the edge. Something or the other will keep happening every 5-10 minutes. It should do well.”
Gushing details about her role Sakshi said, “I am an action heroine in the film. I do stunts in the film. My character starts with shades of grey but it becomes okay as the film progresses. I am one of the authorities of the underworld set up.”
Contract is slated to release on July 18.
