Imtiaz's next with Saif and Deepika

Jab We Met, the surprise of 2007, catapulted Imtiaz Ali to the top of the heap of young Bollywood directors. His next film is being shot in London, produced by Saif Ali Khan and starring Saif and OSO girl Deepika Padukone. We asked Imtiaz to dish out the goss on the movie, which is being released in December.

Imtiaz Ali

Q: So what's your film called?
A: My film doesn’t have a title yet! I’m very bad with giving my films their names and that's how it also was for Jab We Met. I think this time also I'll do what I did earlier: take the opinion of people.

Q: What’s the film about?
A: “It's a simple love story which unfolds on the streets of London - a story about relationships. Deepika’s character is practical and it can be called the girl-next-door. Her character's called Meera Pandit and Meera is very confident, contemporary but with values. The name Meera is universal but at the same time it’s sensitive and has something mystic about it. The film's the love story of Meera and Jai (Saif). This film's emotions are those of love and sacrifice.

Q: Tell us something about Saif and Deepika as actors.
A: It's great that I had the combination of a new-comer and a versatile actor. Saif is very professional, committed towards his work. His role essays a businessman settled in London. Deepika of course was appreciated in OSO. So it was great to work with such talented actors. The audience liked the chemistry of Aditya-Geet in Jab We Met. I think they will also like my Meera-Jai.

Q: Where's your next schedule?
A: In San Francisco for 10 days with Saif and after that the climax scene which will be shot near Delhi with Saif, Deepika and Rishi Kapoor.

Q: So did Kareena visit Saif a lot on sets?
A: I don’t interfere in their personal matter so I really don’t want to comment

Q: What are you future projects?
A: I’m planning to work with Akshay Kumar, so let’s see how that works out.

Saif Ali Khan's home banner venture, being directed by Imtiaz Ali (of JAB WE MET fame), is progressing as per schedule in London. The film is being kept away from the prying eye of the media, though time and again we have brought you exclusives about the much anticipated project. And here is the latest!

Heenal Raichura (of Indian origin), who holds the distinction of being the youngest doctor in UK, has just finished shooting for a dance sequence in London, along with the two lead stars of the film, Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone. Heenal is no novice to dancing as she has trained under 'Kathak' guru,Smt.Shama Bhate.
