In Bollywood you’ve got to make a name for yourself. And if you’re name kisses quality each time, your name becomes a brand. A brand people will follow like a religion. Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachan and Farhan Akhtar are one of those people. I went to see Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na just because of Aamir Khan. I’m sure a lot of people out there put their hard earned moolah into the movie for this very reason. Farhan Akhtar, the director made it big with Dil Chahta Hai. He’s back with Rock On!! Now here’s Farhan Akhtar the actor, the singer, the producer. Will he be a better actor than a director? That will have to wait. First let’s check out the music which was released yesterday.
Track Listing:
Socha Hai - Farhan Akhtar
Pichle Saat Dinon Mein - Farhan Akhtar
Rock On!! - Farhan Akhtar
Ye Tumhari Meri Baatein - Dominique Cerejo
Zehreelay - Suraj Jaggan
Tum Toh Ho - Farhan Akhtar
Sinbad The Sailor - Farhan Akhtar, Raman Mahadevan
Pichle Saat Dinon Mein (Live Version) - Farhan Akhtar
Phir Dekhiye - Caralisa Monteiro
The music has been composed by Shankar Ehsaan Loy. The lyrics have been penned down by Javed Akhtar. At first look this might look like Farhan Akhtar’s private rock album. He has sung five out of the nine tracks in the album. And dude! He rocks! He certainly does. The music is simply good to listen to. The album starts with Socha Hai by Farhan Akhtar. This is just some brilliant stuff as usual from Shankar Ehsaan Loy. Farhan proves he can sing. And he sings quite well. So say hello to Farhan Akhtar, the singer. The next track Pichle Saat Dinon Mein is an attempt to rock. Farhan makes it sound so good. The lyrics make it even better. Chances are you’re humming the song, the very first time you hear it! The title song comes next, Rock On by Farhan Akhtar. Say hello to Farhan Akhtar, the rockstar. Ye Tumhari Meri Baatein is a solid slow soulful song. Who the heck is Dominique Cerejo? I’ve got to Google her! The rock part is not over yet. Zehreelay by Suraj Jaggan is a neat one. Tum Toh Ho by Farhan Akhtar is another slow song you’ll wanna hear again and again. You can skip Sinbad the Sailor. The album ends with Phir Dekhiye by Caralisa Monteiro. The lyrics are simply amazing. On the whole an album as expected. Go get it! You’ll love each and every song!

Farhan Akhtar is my kindda director. Dil Chahta Hai and Lakshya - both are my favs and I'm sure Rock on will be my favourite for a really long long time.
I liked all their songs. They're filled with soul and that really rocked...a good change admist the cacophony of plastic beats.
Here's a good place to be when you want to hang out with people with similar music taste.
I’ve listen to the songs. I don’t think Farhan is great but he makes it work considering this is a movie. I tell you why this album isn’t great:
1. He tries to scream like he’s in Iron Maiden or something… once he even tries to scream as Steven Tyler… obviously he doesn’t have the voice to do that.
2. He has a good voice to consider professional singing, maybe some pop songs definitely not hard enough to rock on.
3. Sankar Ishan Loys rifts and beats are bangin’, they sure rock…
4. Javed Akhtars lyrics are good for some pop version not definely the rock music this music is gonna represent. Javed Akhtar is a old dude who looks at the sunset, sea shores and two heart shaped baloons while writing songs…. the lyrics sounds 100% FAKE. Since it does sound like is written by some controlled dude with wife and kids… really fucked up lyrics.
I give Lyrics a 1.5, vocals a 3 and music a 4.5, in scale from 1-5; that of cource I have give stars here.
And ya I can say without any official feedbacks that Farhan Akhtar is an Aerosmith fan. Since that’s what the band's vocalist ties and fails to be the whole album.
And by this review you can say that I’m one too… not that I care if you don’t care.
Farhan Akhtar as an actor and a singer, while Javed Akhtar's lyrics--sounds lethal combination...Let's hope the movie live up to its expectations....
Its a really amazing movie. I think its gonna rock our generation and create a new movie genre all together and a major attraction for the youth.
I was so impressed yesterday, after seeing the movie. I couldn't control but blog about it.

the music of the film has to be witnesses to be understood... like the coming of age of vine i finally think that bollywood and its residents have awakened to a new genre of film making. absolutely stupendous, i actually have no words to express the feelings that have long since been made dormant with the mindless entertainers.
"Rock On" has some superb songsin it which also justifies the title of the film. Farhan Akhtar and Shankar-Ehsan-Loy is a fantastic combination where qualitative music and entertainment is concerned...
