If you thought Bollywood films compare poorly with Hollywood films especially where the moolah involved is concerned, think again. Here's a bit of news that will surprise you. Apparently, rumour has it that the Shah Rukh starrer 'Om Shanti Om' is creating huge ripples in distribution circles. One persistent birdie tells us that SRK's company Red Chillies Entertainment has been offered a mind-boggling Rs 55 crore for the worldwide distribution rights along with satellite, audio and home video rights for the next ten years. The film is being made on a budget of Rs 15 crore, and this means a clear Rs 40 crore profit on the table – even before the film's release!
When quizzed on this bit of rumour, Farah Khan who is directing the film preferred to keep mum on the issue. "I'm not at liberty to disclose...," was all Farah said, "Shah (Shah Rukh) handles the business side." If true, the film will beat even Nikhil Advani's 'Salaam-E-Ishq', a multi-cast film including Salman Khan, which was reportedly sold for 45 crore (all rights mentioned above).
